People You Should Know Project

Below, you will find all of the submissions for the People You Should Know Project, 2020. For this project, students researched 15 people from history who have not been traditionally found in textbooks. After doing research, the students then chose a project to "teach" that person to others. Video projects are also posted on YouTube. Audio projects are also posted as Vox Historia episodes and can be found on Anchor and Spotify or anywhere you listen to podcasts.

About Vox Historia

History speaks to us through the many threads of the past, informing our present and predicting our future. Vox History examines those voices in a unique way. Although it is the title of our flagship podcast, this year we are adding more ways to express those voices.

Each student in my world history classes of the 2020-21 school year will be creating projects to demonstrate learning. Yes, they can produce an episode of Vox Historia. But they also have more agency in expressing their voices.

All projects on this site were created by students in my World History classes at Elk Grove High School. In lieu of traditional tests and activities, the students pick the topics, research, and produce the projects. Sometimes you may hear the voices of teachers as well, as they become inspired by the students.
